Cover crops are being used by an increasing number of early adopters in Manitoba. This includes both fall shoulder seasons cover crops after harvest and full season cover crops that are often grazed. A network of partners including the University of Manitoba, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, the Manitoba Association of Watersheds, and Manitoba Agriculture are working with farmers to adapt cover crop strategies that will work in our prairie environment in order to meet our evolving goals for improved soil health.
